I did a search, and didn't see this one mentioned yet on here.

H.R. 2159: Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009
(Another link here.)

Essentially, anyone suspected of being a terrorist or supporter of terrorism may have their right to keep and bear arms denied to them without any trial, hearing, and essentially no proof.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. Peter King [R-NY], and has co-sponsors in both parties.

So who may the Attorney General suspect as being a terrorist or supporter of terrorism? We should all know the answer to this by now:

So-called right-wing extremists, disgruntled military veterans, so-called alternative media, all ranges of anarchists (specifically mentioning green anarchists, who are pacifists), animal rights activists, anti-abortionists, neo-Luddites, black separatists, white separatists, hackers, Jewish extremists, Christian extremists, Mexican separatists, anti-Castro Cubans, militia members, patriot groups, freemen/sovereign citizens, tax-resisters.... essentially anybody who doesn't like everything the government does.

And of course, they may arrest and hold you without trial indefinitely for those same suspicions under the PATRIOT act.

So essentially, if this passes...
Anyone and EVERYONE can be a 'suspected' home grown terrorist.

Wonderful

Me thinks a REAL paranoia is coming from
some politicians.

What are they so afraid of?
The people exercising their rights? :banghead:

Very frightening -surely it's not getting any traction/co-sponsors - anyone know?

/sarcasm on
Surely you aren't for "Terrorists" having access to guns. Only another "Terrorist" would support such a thing.
/sarcasm off

I think they will have no problem getting plenty of sponsors. The status quo fears the people more than anything else right now. Although the sky isn't falling just yet someone is definitely knocking at it's support beams. :)

Cosponsors (as of 4/30/09)
Rep. Michael Castle [R-DE]
Rep. Charles Rangel [D-NY]
Rep. Carolyn McCarthy [D-NY]
Rep. Mark Kirk [R-IL]
Rep. James Moran [D-VA]
Rep. Christopher Smith [R-NJ]

It was introduced on 4/29, so not much has happened with it yet.

Notice how they define people who stockpile firearms and ammunition or who protest restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms as potential terrorists? If you complain about losing your right to keep and bear arms, they will take away your right to keep and bear arms.

On the surface most Americans will be in favor of a bill like this. Until they remember Janet Napolitano describing returning combat vets, pro-lifers, and those of us who do not belong to the R's or D's as 'potential risks'.

It wouldn't be too much of a leap to just go ahead and label us as 'domestic terrorists'
