What will they think of next? I, for one, am a veteran that is pro-life and opposed to granting amnesty to illegal immigrants. According to the recent DHS bulletins, that makes me a suspected "extremist" (i.e. "terrorist") on all three counts. How many other gun owners fit this description?

Please write your elected reps and encourage them not to support such a vague and worthless piece of legislation.

H. R. 2159

To increase public safety by permitting the Attorney General to deny the transfer of a firearm or the issuance of firearms or explosives licenses to a known or suspected dangerous terrorist.

Full text of the bill is available here:
H.R. 2159

This is so clearly unconstitutional I would it would actually be interesting if the idiots pass it.

1. The right to keep and bear arms is a constitutional right. Strict scrutiny applies at the federal level today.

2. This bill completely abridges that right, with no due process whatsoever.

3. The courts will throw it out.

The Attorney General might use the No Fly List, with all of its well documented issues, as the basis for deciding if someone is a potential terrorist.

"According to the recent DHS bulletins, that makes me a suspected "extremist" (i.e. "terrorist") on all three counts."

No it does not. And you won't find anyone in the DHS who thinks that it does. Are they three factors, which when combined with others, may contribute to your being considered as a suspected extremist? Sure. But the scrutiny comes from the other factors more than anything else.

Given the leaked memo apparently there is at least one person in the DHS that feels veterans, particularly those of us that served in the War on Terrorism, are in the same class as Al Qaida, Skin Heads, thugs, etc.

DHS has been bored with inaction SOOO long that they have completely lost thier focus wasting time picking on Vets and other good Americans.

It's our fault for electing such a dumbed down Congress that does not know thier jobs.

I looked through the link provided by LaBulldog; where is the language of interest? I would like to see what the actual statement is. Maybe that link is not the correct one for said interest.

hey kino, we skinheads arent as scary as you think. and are certainly not on the same level as al qaeda. ill grant you there are some "extremists" in the bunch. but they are certainly not the whole.

I am more afraid of skinheads then Al Quaeda. Al Quaeda is just a bunch of religious people while skinheads are full of hate simply for their fellow man with no ideological basis. I am also more likely to encounter a skinhead then I am a real honest to goodness Al Quaeda member.

Oh and I agree with Erik. Many here are ignoring that the DHS also released a memo about those who lean to the left. They just did it and it was not newsworthy at the time. We can all thank Bush for having them do the study as it was started under him and released under Obama. We can also thank the GOP for giving us DHS and the PATRIOT ACT.

In the UK discussing illegal immigrants just makes you a racist in the eyes of the Government.

So far it hasn't be accelerated to terrorist status. Even our Government isn't so twisted as to try and call people concerned about potential terrorism in our midst imported by illigal immigrants as actually being a potential terrorist threat of itself. But there is an election coming up next year so maybe they're just keeping the best irony back awhile.

To be fair, I'll inform you that this legislation has nothing to do with punk music, hardcore music, or the associated, non-racist/political subcultures, so I can only assume so much from your words.

If you're being serious, you're on the wrong website. If you're not, and that was simply a bad joke made worse by the nature of the internet, you're still on the wrong website.

I would like a "no speaking list". Whenever someone is getting ready to say something really stupid the government jumps in and stops them.

That way we don't get bills like this one.

Or conversly, depending on who is in charge, we might not have the right to SPEAK OUT AGAINST such madness, either. Remember, many laws are double-edged swords

If DHS in it's infinite wisdom feels qualified to make that type of call, how far can we be from Health and Human(?) Services coming out with 'Stupid People Shouldn't Breed' guidelines? :what:
The bad thing is, they'd screw that 1 up too....hopefully they'd at least get my sister-in-law;)
