Here's an interesting one, didn't see this posted -- proposed by a Florida legislator
H.R.4953 - To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act
any semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine.

This is certainly more sneaky than going for a new AWB, and perhaps it signals a new tactic. Doubtful if the bill could even get out of committee, but... here we go.
'Course, some of us now live in states where the venerable 10-22 is considered an "assault rifle" and have to get special training and background checks just to buy one...
