Tried this on the revolver thread with no comeback. So am asking here.

I have several H&R 732 revolvers in 32 S&W long. I am wondering on the safety issues concerning rechambering to 32 H&R magnum. I am aware of the pressure differences. I am wondering about cylinder strength. Is it adequate??

Thanks, River Ranger

I am sure the cylinder would be strong enough to handle the pressure.

The question is, will the gun itself be able to handle the increased battering of the more powerful round?

I am not sure whether or not any heat treatment was done on the H&R frame and yoke.

If it is soft steel, it would quickly beat itself to death (end shake, timing) with .32 Magnums.

There could also possibly be some issue with flame cutting, as the design was not intended or optimized for that much powder burning at higher pressure.

Bumping this up. Have you found more info on rechambering? I have a 732 2.5" snub chambered in 32swl also. Would like to find out more about rechambering.
