This is my H&R 732 in 32 Long. According to the serial (AR) it was made in 1977. The cylinder and hammer looks to be either chrome or nickel plated. Did it come from the factory this way? 20161211_185642.jpg

The hammer being plain steel is standard. The finish on the cylinder being bright when the frame is blue is definitely NOT standard. It suggests that the cylinder has been refinished or replaced. I can't say which because unfortunately, your picture makes it look like the cylinder is a high-polish blue.

This was an economy model for H&R, so I doubt there were any custom orders for blue guns with bright cylinders. And in 1977, they were still doing OK, so they weren't slapping guns together from odds and ends.

I will try to take a better picture tonight but the cylinder and the hammer are definitely chrome, maybe nickel. Both have a bright and smooth silver finish to them

This auction is for an H&R Model 733, which is the same as your 732, except it has H&R's matte nickel (or electroless nickel, I forget) finish:

I don't think H&R ever bothered to plate the hammers, they just polished them bright. Like I said, someone either polished up the cylinder that came with your gun, maybe because the bluing got damaged, or put in a cylinder from a 733. Does the gun seem to shoot all right, or does it spit lead, like a poorly fitted cylinder would?

From 15' it is very accurate. I haven't had a chance to go to the range and go longer with it
