I currently own and shoot a buff classic. The rear factory sight isnt going to work, simply because its not a long range sight. I purchased a pedersoli long range creedmore sight at cabelas for around $200. You will be limited to how you can mount the sight, because there is no tang, and you have a bolt going through the wrist. I took my reciever to work, with the stock attached. I basically set it up in a vertical mill, and edge found to center. With a small machinists level, I made the wrist wood behind the reciever parallel with the table, and I drilled the hole pattern for the sight on top of the wrist. I used a new 2 flute 10-24 tap, and carefully taped threads in the wood, being carefull not to drill to deep and hit the hole through the wrist. The sight base didnt quite match the contour of the wood, so some fitting was required to get the sight to set square. Then I used a small amount of acraglass on the base and the two 10-24 socket head cap screws(1/2"), and perminately mounted the sight base. Since we are mounting to wood, the epoxy makes the mounting stable, you dont want it coming loose or any movement
It sounds like alot of work, but the installation took around 45 min. Any competent gunsmith could do this. The front sight is o.k., though pedersoli front sights have more inserts to work with
The gun only weighs around 8 lbs, so you might want to add a stock weight or reciol reducer. This lighter gun wont be as stable as a 12 lb high wall, but you will be suprized how well they shoot! My current loading is as follows: Remmington brass, Federal #215 lg mag rifle primer, 60gr ffg, .030 vegie fiber wad and a Montana 480 gr Schmitzer bullet. You'll laugh your
off, cause ya can hit clay pigeons at 300 yds all day
