A couple months ago i found a pair of 12" 1858 buffalos (dixie calls it a texas i think) i bought the stainless one first and it shot like a lazer. I didnt like the 12" but my plan was to hack 4" off it so it looks like a normal gun. Each one was $125. i couldnt pass em up. The stainless one is in great shape so i went back for the other one wich was a brass frame buffalo.

Buffalo

I didnt really like the 12" so i cut 4" off each one

I put the front site on the brass one myself wasnt to bad but i wouldnt want to charge or pay for my kind of work. The stainless one i took to a gunsmith and had the crown cleaned up and the front site put on.

Well i got it back today

You can see here the barrel isnt turned in all the way. The side is not flat (square) with the side of the frame.

That seems to be an oversight on the 'smith's part. You could ask him to straighten that out. Overall though, he did a really nice job. Congrats!

Isn't great when you get the guns back? I sent my ROA off to David Clements a week ago today to have a dovetailed brass front sight put on the front and have the rear fixed sight widened and have a high profile insert added. He called Friday and said it's ready to go. He said he would ship it today so I expect it to land at my door tomorrow or Thursday.

I hope it's all I hope....

Well he told me about it and i looked at it and i could see it tilted instantly.

My problem is i dont remember it being like that or ide have him fix that.

He did mention it wasnt screwed in all the way and he would fix it but wanted me to shoot it and see if anything else was wrong.

I already know im going to want the rear sight lowered. If the rear needs milled deeper or to shave off some of the plate that sits on the frame.

He said he had alot of problems with this thing, he broke a bit and i think had to order a new one and maybe wanted a break from it lol
