I have an old dbl action H&R 949 .22 cal. on the barrel no indication if it was .22 s, l, or lr or if 2nd cylinder for .22 M was with the original.
1. Does anyone know if this model came with a .22mag cylinder?
2. The dbl action works without any problems, but the sgl action will seldom hold. What are the probable causes for this failure to hold the hammer back.
3. Is this revolver worth fixing?
I inherited the gun when my dad passed and have just kept it cleaned and stored for several years.

Yes, it came with both. The 22mag should not chamber in the 22 s,l,lr cylinder as the mag is slightly larger. If you decide to shoot shorts or long, make sure you clean the cylinder with a brass brush before shooting lr.
The sear may be slightly worn, you might find someone to work on it,but theymay be hard to find. These were not high end guns and are not alot fun to take apart. There are some small springs inside and are difficult to get into place, atleast with my big fingers.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I'll have to poke around and see if I can locate a gunsmith willing to do the work at a price I'm willing to pay. WTM
