hi , my nieghbor has a new england firearms single shot ultra rifle in 308 with the laminated stock and a 3X9 tasco world class scope he is trying to sell me. was wanting some opinions about quality, do they shoot etc etc. he wants $200. for it, so what do ya'll think. thanks, saddlebum

Go for it! The rifle by itself is worth $225, not including the scope.

I have 2 NEF single shots, a 12 ga shotgun and a .22 WMR "Ultra". Neither has given me any problems. The .22 WMR is the most accurate rifle I own...

The NEF Handi Rifle is a great little, inexpensive gun. I've got one in .45-70 and just last week sent the receiver and forearm back to the factory to be fitted for a .22 Hornet barrel. The factory will also tweak the trigger and reduce the pull weight, free of charge!

My .45-70 shot groups of about 1.25 inch at over 100 yards with a 4x Leupold scope sitting on it. It's the latest model, so virtually every caliber NEF makes can be added, including the .30-06, .308 or .243.

Buy it!!!

I have the H/R in the ultra Varmint .223, the 12ga Slug gun (10 ga bbl bored for a 12 ga), and a .410 - love them.

I have a NEF in .223 and I consider it a very good rifle. Well worth the money, accurate and dependable.

I just purchased an NEF Handi Rifle SB2 in .223 with the heavy barrel. Man is that thing heavy since I added the scope and a bipod. It's a very solid gun and capable of sub 1/2" groups at 100 yards. For 200 bucks, go for it.

Buy it
As others, these things are usually surprisingly accurate.

I think they are down right fun myself.
I think the upraised eyebrows are great. Expecting an single shot shotgun and your gonna shoot a centerfire out of that....that ...what the hey :D

thanks for the replys. i bought the rifle today. he gave me the box and all the factory paper work shows it was purchased in april 2003 so it still looks brand new. he also gave me 6 boxes of federal premium 150 gr ammo with the nosler ballistic tips. saddlebum
