Who owns any H&R or NEF single shot handi rifles and what cailbers? What is your opinion of these moderate priced rifles?

I recently bought a new H&R .223 handi rifle, black synthetic stock, 22 inch standard contour barrel. I put a Tasco 6.24 x 40mm scope on it and it's a very accurate rifle. I sighted it in at 100 yards and got about 1 inch groups. Not bad at all for a new rifle that cost me $270.00 tax included! I plan to use it coyote hunting. :D

Had the same gun you have, no problems with it at all except that the old lacquer Wolf wouldn't eject. Very decent and accurate gun. Sent it on down the line when I got another AR.

I've heard some have had problems with stuck casings with the older models that had an ejector. My rifle was made in 2007 and has an extractor instead of an ejector. I've had no problems with mine.

I don't personally own one but my friend owns one, which I have shot. It's a .223, great rifle about 1 moa accuracy.

I recently purchased a H&R Ultra in 223 with a bull barrel. I am getting similar groups. I've shot up to 62 grain factory loads with no problem. Next trip I will be shooting 69 grain ammo. If it works well, I think I will try 75 or 77 grain ammo. If those work well, I will probably try some Sierra 90g HPs in some handloads.

Have the Ultra, bull barrel in .223. Like everyone else, I get about 1" groups with factory ammo. With my handloads, about 1/2"

It has disassembled many a whistle pig.

Wow, I don't know whether it's happenstance or what, but I've been the only one I know to call them whistle pigs since I was a boy in Mountain Home AFB. Nice to hear(see) it again!

Have an Ultra Hunter in .25-06. Did some work to help float the barrel, but that's about it. Shoots 1-2 MOA depending upon load. Closer to 1 consistantly with my handloads, 2 with Federal bargain stuff. Taken quite a few whitetails. The Leupold I have on it cost more than the rifle.

Its definitely an Idaho term. I never heard of 'em before I moved to Idaho. Never heard 'em called anything else since I got here. (Except the newspaper biologists call 'em Columbia Ground Squirrels.)

Ditto. Mine ejects fine but is a little on the heavy side for my wife to carry.
