I'm thinking about getting an H&R Target Classic in .38-55 and was wondering if anyone else has any experience with one of these. What I was wondering is what bullet size seems to give the best accuracy with these. I've checked on .38-55 lead cast bullets and moulds and there seems to be a variety of diameters available from .375 to .380. What diameter works best in the Target Classic? Of course I realize that every gun is different but it must have a preference with either the smaller diameter or larger diameter bullets. I was considering a Lee mould in .379. Another problem that I've read about in reviews on the rifle is that it doesn't shoot plain-based cast bullets very well and seems to do better with gas-check designs. Anyone else experience this? I was planning on shooting the gun with both smokeless and black powder/Pyrodex loads. Can anybody offer a little information/opinion/advice on this matter? Thanks.
One more thing. I have a Creedmoor-style sight (also called a soule sight) that is common on Sharps and other single-shot rifles. Will this sight work if I just attach it to the wood of the stock where it joins the receiver or is this impractical?
