the deluxe also has a Monte Carlo stock, which is better for a scope IMHO

I just checked the web site and they say both are monte so I don't know.

I own the standard model, but looked at the Deluxe when shopping. As far as I could tell the wood was the only difference. I did not consider the pretty stock to be worth the extra money for a working gun that will get beat to hell crawling in and out of deer stands and thru brush.

On an unrelated note I kinda wish I had gotten the Ultra Lite model. The standard model weighs like 10 lbs. It is heavy to lug thru the woods (so get a sling for it), but it absorbs recoil beautifully. A pleasure for sighting in, but in the field where only one or two shots will be taken I can handle harsher recoil in a lighter gun. You get used to the weight of the gun with no problem, but it can get exhausting carrying at port arms while slow stalking a mile long woods.

I bought the base model 2 yrs ago. When I was debating between the 2, I couldn't find anything different, other than the aesthetics that is. Definately worth the $250, though. I skipped the scope and bought a simple red dot with 2x magnification and I shoot 3 inch Hornady SST's out of it. It's amazingly accurate and the recoil is surprisingly less than I expected.
