I starting to reload for my Remington 760 Pump Action Rifle, chambered in 30-06. I decided to start with 165gr BTSP interlock bullets with an OAL of 2.235, this is 0.030 off the lands. I am working up from 54.1gr to 58.8gr increasing the charge weight by 1% at a time. At 58.3grains of H4350 the powder column is just touching the bottom of the seated bullet so 58.8gr whould most likely slightly compress the powder.
My manuals do not call for a compressed load of H4350 @ 59gr, which is max. The OAL used in the manual is 3.300, longer than I can load this bullet for my rifle. Is is safe to slightly compress the H4350 in the 30-06 case or should I just stop at 58.3gr and use this as my max load to test?
