I'm finally going on vacation Aug. 29th.

After taking my sister college hopping (she's 17), I plan to circumvent CA's evil disarmament laws by making an end run into either arizona or nevada where I will buy (several?) handguns with my C&R FFL and COE. Then, taking physical possession of the guns, I will LEGALLY drive right back across the border and then register them with CA DOJ within 5 days.

How does the plan sound? I think it's great, just too bad that all the hi-caps will have to be sold back or dumped.

Ok, so now - what to buy? and who to buy from? I'm going to try to get into Prescott to meet up with J&G sales, but anybody know of any others that I should consider?

What's on my wish list that I can't get here because of the "safety" list:

East German Mak
Chi or Rusk Tok
CZ 82
whatever might be on consignment.

=) =)

Provided that the rest of the plan is legal, I would definitely take along any documents you have that explain what C&R is.

It wouldn't surprise me if the owners of some small pawnshops might not have heard of C&R. I'd expect some of them would be wary to sell to a CA resident, even with a C&R. It may help to have some gov't issue paperwork (like whatever info kit the BATF sent you) which lists what guns are C&R.

If your plan is legal and practical, sounds pretty cool. Have fun with that,

@ bigcim:

You can apply to the Feds to get a Curio & Relics license, which allows you to purchase many firearms over 50 years old without having to go through an FFL.

For example, if you have a C&R, you could have a Luger pistol and a Krag rifle mailed directly to your doorstep, saving you $40 in FFL fees.

dont get me started

CALI:

* allows only long arms to be shipped direct to C&Rs.
* allows only handguns on its "approved safety list" to be shipped in.

therefore, in order to buy an east german mak i have to go to prescott arizona, buy it with my c&R (is there a waiting period? i hope not... id have to go twice then), then carry it back across the border, then register it within five days. ...
