I don’t take my 1895 out in wet weather so I loaded up 44mag with IMR4227 but found 2 different loads. I couldn’t remember which one was for my rifle and which was for my buddies rifle so I loaded 6 of each. I quickly found out when the 24.6gr load shot a 5” group. I put 3 of the 24gr load in and it printed about 1.5” so a little adjusting to the left and it’s good. I wish I loaded more cause this little H&R handi rifle is fun to shoot.

I then switched over to the CVA optima with loose 777 and 300gr xtp set off with a cci mag primer. I usually use Blackhorn 209 but switched due to the price gouging of BH209. The 300gr xtp shoots well with BH209 but did not like 777. That’s the 2 holes that are at 3 and 6 o’clock. I cleaned the barrel and tried a Barnes 250gr TEZ with 100gr 777 and it shot 10 o’clock. The next 2 shots were at 7 o’clock. I am down to 4 Barnes bullets and no one sells them locally so I just left it alone. It’s still minute of deer at 100yards. I may get out before season and play with 777 loads and the 300gr xtp to see if it will shoot better.

Last but not least I had picked up some 124gr Gold Dot +P so decided to see how they shot in my new Shield plus. 20ft (walked) I fired 5 freehand and think I did pretty well.

I had the range to myself cause it was 30 degrees and was able to take my time and just relax from the “normal” world.

What color sabot are you using?
I've found 110gr by volume 777 and a black sabot gives me excellent accuracy with a 45 cal 300XTP or cast bullet.

The Barnes was with the included blue sabot and the .452 xtp was with black smooth sabot. I wanted to try 105-110 gr 777 but I was out there in just a hoodie in 30 degree weather. I still have time so I’ll give it a shot.
