...at least in a small part of Central Florida. These are the stats on brands and calibers brought to my NRA First Steps classes in Florida, just under 100 students. Obviously all aren't carry or combat pistols, but this is what people bring to the classes:

Brand: Ruger 25%, S&W 23%, Colt 8%, Glock, JC Higgins & Taurus each 7%, SIG-Sauer 5%, Hk & CZ each 4%, Beretta 3%, Dan Wesson, Kel-Tec, Springfield, Star, Steyr & Walther each 1%.

Action Type: Semi-auto--SA/DA 25%, SA 21%, DAO (incl Glocks) 10%; Revolver--SA/DA 39%, DAO 4%, SA 2%.

Caliber: .22LR 34%, 9mm 23%, .38 Spec 21%, .357 Mag 9%, .45 ACP 7%, .380 Auto 4%, .32 Auto 1%, .32 S&W Long 1%

FYI.

BJ - I'd say broadly that reflects pretty much on my classes too. Father and son came to last clas - father had snub (forget which) - his boy had a real nice tricked out Kimber!!!!

I was aware perhaps of slightly too much emphasis on snubs in some cases - only because the owners were not really ''ready'' for that degree of control and would be better suited to longer tubes while they gain skill.

Overall with my students, I find a good quality of responsibility - but as ever, per class - always seems to be one who knows everything!! :p
