I was not asking for political commentary. I am simply asking if someone recognizes the pistol carried by the lead character as a matter of curiosity. I think it is a Glock 26, but I wanted to know if some one with more expert eyes recgonized it.
I don't know or care what the actor's personal view on firearms is.
I thought it had the mag release in the trigger guard, like a HK maybe? At least the first gun he had appeared that way when he dropped the magazine (toward the start of the movie).
I know this is an old thread, the gun was a H&K USP.
I think it's a compact because he shoots about 8 rounds before having to reload, I think the one the mercenarys are using are a full size though, difficult to tell. Not sure the caliber either. I know for sure at the beginning of the movie when he gives his gun to the security guys that it was a Glock until he pays a bartender to get the USP which he says to him to find him the nicest gun available.
The magazine looks similar to the one the compacts have but also the same ones the H&K USP .45 12 round mags have.
The very first pistol he surrendered to the bad guys was a Glock 26.
The pistol he bought from the bartender was an H&K USP 9mm
Considering the movie was suppossed to take place in 1994 and USP pistols didn't come onto the market until 1995 and the first ones were in .40 caliber and the Glock 26 pistols did not enter the market until 1996 I consider the choice of personal armament a bit underthought.
did you capture from dvd or find online?
very nice and definitive for the main gun
the third world is hard to gauge time wise.
I haven't seen it but is it action or drama?
Also watch guessing the gun by how much ammo they afford them.
I don't know how but they get more blanks in guns than live.
Why would a merc use a usp?
It is a dummed down civi version "mk23" socom and comes in worthless rounds.
To pacify the third world savages I would use no less than .45 and always carry ammo and a machete.
Just me
Hey I just saw this movie finally. Kick butt movie.
I also was wondering what kind of handguns the main character used.
I was also glad to see that he finally picked up an AK and used it to very good effect during the raid on the mining camp scene, rather than the usual stupidity in movies where the good guy takes out dozens of rifle-armed BGs with his handgun when there are perfectly-good rifles lying around. Though there was a *bit* of that principle happening earlier in the movie.
It is a good movie, not too preachy, just tells it how it is. Africa not a nice place to live, but for many people, once you go there, you never go back.
