If you have read Dick Metcalf's writing in Shooting Times for the last 20+ years, you know he is one of the most knowledgeable experts on handguns and handgun hunting in America. This Sunday, I'll be broadcasting the Gun Talk radio show from Dick's place, PASA Park (where The Masters Championship is held), in Barry, Illinois.

If anyone wants to ask Dick questions, or just talk with him about handguns, hunting, optics, etc., just call in. The show runs from 1:00 til 4:00 CENTRAL time, Jan. 26. Much more interesting that those insipid pre-game shows which will be on TV all afternoon!

You can listen to the show on the net. Just start at www.guntalk.net and follow the link to LISTEN.

Hope to hear you on the radio.

Cool...

I'm listening to your archived 2003/01/05 show on cable modem right now.. works great.

If you have a pop up supressor running you will need to suspend it.

I'll be listening on the 26th...

:)

Thanks for the heads up.I always enjoyed reading Metcalf.Mostly because he hunts whitetails with a .357mag.He claims to be very successful at it also.SoI got me a new Ruger GP100 and plan to do the same.

SoI got me a new Ruger GP100 and plan to do the same.

I didn't have deer hunting specifically in mind when I bought my GP100 several years ago, but the possibility of getting a deer has influenced my handloads for that gun. During deer season, if I'm in the forest, that gun is on my hip from sunrise till sunset.

I have the 4" full underlug model. My pet load will drive a 180gr Rem SJHP to 1200fps in 60degree weather. I've shot maybe 400-500 of those loads through the gun. On a good day, I've put 3 of 6 shots in a paper plate at 100yds shooting DA. I'm confident it'll do the trick on a deer out to 30 or 40yds (broadside).

BTW, does Guntalk play in the Northern Va region? AM630/WMAL doesn't list it.

Chris

Dick Metcalf is a great fan of the CZ line of firearms.
Finds the CZ75 to be a very underrated pistol.

Seems like one of the few writers willing to buck the 1911
and Glock code.

Hope to see more CZ based articles from him.
