Handgun hunting

Some were moving, some weren't. The 130 yard shot was sitting. The most impressive shot I saw was my son drop one at a dead run, the burners were lit, at around 70 yards with my Ruger mk 1. There were 2 types of Jackrabbits there, dumb ones that ran a little ways and stopped to look at you. The other kind wouldn't stop or slow down till they reached a new zip code.

I have only ever hunted rabbits with a 22. Is there anything left when shooting something bigger?

I wouldn't know. I've never hit one with anything but a 22. Lots of fun trying though. And very good double action practice when using a revolver.

I had a ruger 22/45 lite. I put a scope on it and used to shoot rabbits with it

I used to hunt jackrabbits with a .357 AutoMag. My load was the 90 gr Sierra 9mm at 2496 fps out of an 8 1/2" barrel. It blew them up pretty bad, sometimes into multiple pieces. That load would kill a coyote in his tracks with any solid body hit.
I made the mistake of shooting a jack at about 20 feet than my buddy had wounded with a .22. I ended up wearing a significant part of that jack.

Well I broke down and ordered a Taurus raging hunter 460. My dealer said it will take a while to get but I put my deposit down on it. I got the 2 tone 8 1/2” barrel version. Now I get more brass and get to loading some test rounds to hunt with

Reckon so, I hit a jackrabbit at around 40 yards with a .36 cal muzzleloader, it was quite remarkable the amount of damage that a small round 80 grain pill will do. I expect that rabbit your buddy hit pretty much evaporated.
