What is a good reliable Lanyard for a pistol ? I am looking for one to use while riding my ATV on trails thorugh the woods and trails . I carry my gun in a Galco holster with a thumb-snap but I want the extra insurance of having my gun staying with me a little more .
I saw one called the Pistol Leash . What is another good lanyard you guys would recomend ?

Old surplus cotton military lanyards are cheap and effective. I use this on various guns I have horseback riding. If you don't have a place to tuck the extra length, or it gets in the way, you loop it up and stick a rubber band around the coil. Nice and neat. As soon as you pull it, the rubber band slips off and you are in business.

Para cord is the easiest and cheapest way to go. Next best bet are the USGI lanyards, the working version, not the ceremonial versions. You can get the GI lanyards for around $5-7.

I avoid the coiled up versions. They look like more of an accident waiting to happen than anything else, especially if your out in the woods. The straight type are easily stuffed into your pants right behind the gun and dont get in the way of drawing the gun, nor do they usually get caught on things.
