I recently took a lesson from a uspsa competitor (was very worthwhile) and one suggestion he made to work on trigger control was a laser.

He was using the TRL-2 light/laser, but he said you could find others cheaper. I can't find any laser-only lights that fit on a rail; the TRL is about $240 but I don't need the flashlight option; just the laser for training (I think).

Any thoughts on where to find a more inexpensive laser that'd fit on a rail?

you can check cheaperthandirt.com or midwayusa.com or ebay it or google search "rail mount laser" - a ton of cheapy stuff will come up.

Does anybody practice dry firing any more?

Just spitballing here:
1. You don't need a laser-before lasers, I did a lot of dry fire practice just watching the sights, doing it in a mirror, etc. Some folks balance a coin on the top of the gun etc.
2. Pricey, but my bed gun has a TLR-2s. I know you said you didn't need the light, but it could come in handy for HD etc? Cheapest price I found was Optics Planet with easily found/Googled "Optics Planet discount code"-good for 5% off-shipping free over $29.95.
3. You might be interested in something like LaserLyte's trainers?

Someone in here (or on THR.us?) had a thread 'bout the LaserLyte trainer within the last few weeks-try the search function.

After all these years, I still practice dry firing, usually with a heavy DA trigger. If you can master a DA trigger, stuff like XDs, Glocks, 1911s, etc are a piece of cake.

Remember what Ayoob says 'bout light triggers; A light trigger pull is, more than anything else, a crutch for bad trigger technique.

What kind of gun are you using?

Here's a link to a guy who sells some lasers/ lights and his prices are very reasonable. I bought the laser/ light combo for my shotgun and I really like it. He has a small red laser for like $30.00 that I was thinking of putting on my XD or I may get the green laser for $95.00 although it looks a little longer I think I like the size of the red one better. http://www.kenarnoldcsa.com/search.php?offset=5&manu=&part=&gun=J40J&search=&full=1&wiz=&q=
