I was wondering if there are any handguns, Ie Pistols or Revolvers that you van buy with a pre-installed flashlight & Laser??? I was thinking about a gun for home defense and thought that a gun & laser would be a smart addition but would prefer if it I could find a gun with all that mounted and installed.

I know the S&W 340CT comes with a laser, but I have never heard of a gun with a laser & Light installed.

Is there such a thing, if so please explain. THanks.

Pics would be great!

WHy not just pay about $250-$300 extra and just simply attach the Sig Light and Laser? I mean who cares whether it comes pre-installed. Who wants all the extra bulk when carrying such a gun? It seems pretty simple to mount on the flashlight/laster accessory and remove it when needed. That is the route I am planning on going with my SIg P229 Elite, the best of both worlds.

I just found out that there are light/laser combos. How's the Sig one work compared to the Streamlight TRL2. They seem to have the same brightness 130L, the Sig has a strobe.

I see the strobe as a very benneficial addition

Think of how disorientating a strobe light will be to an attacker. Some people even go into seizures when they are exposed to flashing light. I recently purchased my first handgun that has a "tactical" rail on it. I was always against the idea but have rethought my objections and am now in the market for a light system.

I use a Insight Procyon Lights on my shotties. Might get one for the pistol but for life of me need to think it some more as they are BIG and not able to be holstered with the one I use.

I may compromise and put a laser on that rail nice and thin and use a Surefire E2D to light BG up using the free hand. The secret I think is choosing pistol loads you can fire accurately with one hand.

I wonder if the Streamlight TLR2 or the Sig laser/light would fit onto a Glock 36? I don;t see any rails on the glock, how would it fit?? Are the rails soemthing you have to buy?? Just confused.

The rail is integral to the frame

Most rails are integral to the frame, but before the rails were common place manufactures came up with systems that attached to the front of the trigger guard

The Glock subcompacts don't have a rail (the dustcover part is too short to really accomodate one). The larger Glocks do.

Buying a pistol with a built in light/laser would be kind of silly. The light would very likely wear out before the gun, and you'd be stuck with a broken light permanently attached. Also, a separate light allows you to remove the light for concealed carry and attach it for home defense as well as being able to swap it between weapons.

One down side to weapon mounted lights: if you're using them for target identification, you have to actually point the weapon at the possible threat in order to identify it. Rather than pointing a light at Little Jane getting a glass of milk at 3AM, you're pointing a loaded firearm at them.

I don't have a little Jane or Little Jim, so works fine for me.

And I'd add having all that hardware puts it into a heavy weapons category: practice with the gadgets on it, and without. you might be surprised how much difference a few ounces can make.

Totally untrue with any S&W CT version. CT lasers are in the grip and easily replaced with any standard grip.

punkndisorderly - great point on the integral flashlight requiring you to point the gun at whatever you want to illuminate, esp kids

whenever i am thinking about a new direction/acquisition in guns (rail, light) I depend upon THR's thoughtful participants and posts to explore the pros and cons

thanks, gentlemen
