I've tried a few different loads since my last post.
Did a couple loads of 150gr, 174gr and 180gr rounds with IMR3031 powders, and Varget. Results were less than stellar. Had high hopes for the Varget with all the hype I read, but it did just OK.... So far.
This morning I revisited a couple loads I've used in the past, as well as a new one found on the net. Only made enough for 5 shot groups today, was lazy at the reload bench.
Anyway, first up was 150gr SierraSP over 47.3grIMR4320, necked PRVI, Fed210M prime, OAL 2.900", Lee fact. crimp. This was my new load for the day. Rifle used for all testing - 1942 M39B, 100 yards off a sandbag.
Results were dismal with a 5 inch vertical spread, and only 4 holes for 5 shots. Maybe I put 2 thru the same one...
Next up was an old fav, 180gr Sierra SP over 46grIMR4320, necked PRVI, Fed210M, OAL 2.975", Lee fact. crimp.
Results were a 2.75" 5 shot group, with 4 of the 5 @ 1-1/16 of an inch! The one that flew was my fault and I knew when I did it. Too fast on the trigger. This really is a good performing load in this rifle.
Next up is another old fav, 180gr Sierra over 50grAA4350, necked PRVI, Fed210M, OAL 3.000", Lee fact. crimp.
Results were 1-7/8" 5 shot group. Ahhhh, that's a good feeling.
Below is a pic of the good targets, and the rifle, and a spot of my foot.
