Here are some pics of one of my M39's with a few of it's better target printings.

First one is a family photo.

Second pic is my latest handload test. A Lyman accuracy listing for the Sierra 180 ProHunter SP.
180gr Sierra SP, 47.5gr. IMR 4350, OAL 2.975.
Recipe calls for Nroma brass and Fed210 primers. I substituted PRVI brass and CCI200 primers.

At 100 yards with the open sights 10 shots fell within 2-5/16" off a sandbag. No significant waiting between shots. Was about 80 degrees, no wind.

Decent groups. Using Lapua brass, WLR primers and the same bullet, with a little more IMR 4350, some of my groups were a bit tighter.

If I could work up trust in being able to feed the magazine from chargers, I'd use it in Vintage Military matches.

I'd say that less than 2.5 MOA in a 10 shot group is more than respectable for a military rifle with iron sights.

Good job.

A++ on your shooting, and , loading skills.I want start loading this caliber for my M44 mossinnaggat. Where is a good source for brass?

Very nice indeed, especially with iron sights. Any chance to run these over a chronograph, and do you know the rifles groove diameter?

Where is a good source for brass?

I have over the past couple years bought PRVI factory ammo and kept my brass. I also bought 100ct new brass PRVI from Grafs online.

Any chance to run these over a chronograph

I don't have one. Lyman used a SAKO M39 for their testing, and the load I posted above ran 2160fps thru their rifle. Gotta figure mine is in the same ball park. The same Lyman load at max hits 2504fps.

rifles groove diameter?

Yes, my B rifle specs @ .311" groove, .300" bore. Seems to like .311" bullets best.

Lyman #49 states their test rifle had a .313" groove dia.
