Happy Birthday United State Marines

That's pretty cool that this is the anniversary of their creation. My best friend is shipping out Dec. 3rd for Iraq. Worried as hell that he'll be ok. Gonna be sending him a letter in a few days to let him know that if he or any of his crew need anything, all he has to do is let me know.

Good journey to all the military out there, Marines or otherwise.
 
Just attended the Birthday ceremony at Al Faw Palace. Camp Victory Iraq, The Multi National Forces Chief of Staff Marine General (did not catch the name), was the oldest and some really young female Marine had the honor of cutting the cake. Very impressive, special treat for us was the Tonga Marines singing some songs. Tradition and interservice spirit is strong here in Iraq, I am proud to play a small part in it.
 
I was US Army but I had the honor to serve with several Marines in the first GW and I also work with a few Marines no longer serving.

If you had to choose someone to be in a foxhole with I don't think I could trust someone with my back as much as a Marine.

One of my more ancient relatives (my grandfather's cousin) fought at Iwo Jima and is considered the "black sheep" for joining the Marines rather than the Army. But for him and all the others I'll repeat the prayer I remember from a priest when I was a small girl.

May our need for Marines always be small and may we always thank God we have them.

My family was all Army and Army Air Corps(prior to the Air Force). My Grandfather used to joke before his death that Marines were created so that the Navy will have someone to dance with while on ship! All I can say is that the only way we danced with sailors is if we were in a fistfight with em! Silly squids, hehe. God bless the Corpsmen though, saved more than their fair share of us, thats for sure.
