AMEN, Preacher... Happy Thanksgiving to all, think about what you each are Thankful for. For myself, I am thankful for my Wife's Health, she has Stage 4 Cancer, Triple Negative, has gone thru 11 rounds of Chemo, a double Mastectomy, and is facing Radiation next. She is very Positive, and not giving up.

I am also thankful for my own health.

I know everyone out here on THR has something to be Thankful For

Yes, we do! Personally grateful for my wife, who has put up with me for 61 years + all the blessings which have been bestowed upon us over those years.

Also thankful for all who have/are serving....first responders & military, who keep us safe.

Happy Thanksgiving, all.

Regards,
hps

Amen!

I am very thankful of various staff and moderators who tirelessly maintain THR on 24/7 basis so we can have an awesome place to hang out and pursue our hobby and passion that is dear to our heart.

Without them, THR would not exist for our future generations.

Thank you!

To list them all would take a great deal of time. I hope it will suffice to say, "Lord, thank you, for everything. I'm sure I don't deserve it, but sure do appreciate it."
May you all be as well loved.

I couldn't have said it any better.
Demi-human, you're spot on my friend.

Very grateful for my finance', my 10yr old step-daughter, my new-to-me house & 3 dogs, 2 cats & a partridge in a pear treeeeee.

:)

Well, Preacher, I think you need to pray for me.

As you all know I am like a two-sided coin. One side I will bend over to anyone that needs help. But on the other side, I am as confrontational as anyone you know.

Now, I have done Thanksgiving at my house for the last sixteen years for all the family. Well, my sister in law (the professor) complained last year and wanted to do it at her place. So I gave in and we decided to have it at her place. Last month she called me and wanted to know if I would do my turkeys for her. Well, I do 2 smoked 2 deep fried and 1 in the oven. I told her I would be happy to. Then she asked if I would also bring my gravy and if my wife could bring her pies and green beans. NO problem this means she is going to do the ham and a few side dishes.

Well, everyone is supposed to show up at her place at 1:00. So at noon, I showed up at her place so I could help set everything up. The first thing I did was went to the house empty handed to see where everything would go. After I saw where I was going to set up I started to go out and get everything. That is when she stopped me and told me that her house was a "gun free zone" and wanted me to leave my gun in the truck. She then told me that she didn't want any politics discussed in her house. Well in the spirit of Thanksgiving I didn't rip her head off and crap down her windpipe.

I went out to the truck and fired it up and headed back to my place. I had my wife text everyone and told them if they wanted turkey to head to my place. But to bring a gun because the weather was so nice that we would hit the range. And that the t.v. in the living room would be on the Fox channel all day. By 8: we had finished all most 80 lbs of turkey and a butt load of pie. The only thing I didn't have was the cranberry sauce.

Now, folks, I am going to try my best to change this coming year, and I don't expect anyone to meet me half way. But come on folks you all got to give a little. And a small prayer my way wouldn't hurt.

Lord, bless Drainsmith, a true and good person. Thank you for sparing him from the period of indoctrination of slavery. Please continue to watch over him and bless him with many family range days. Through Jesus, Amen.

I feel badly for my sister. She was enthralled at college and is now a theater teacher for a nice high school. Yes she does lean in a particular direction.
After Thanksgiving dinner I brought her husband down stairs. We loaded fifty rounds up for my Desert Eagle. He even got to help in many stages!
Then Uncle Dan, my sister and I went to the woods and shot them. They loved it. They took pictures and video and I found that my handloads do in fact leave three foot rings of fire!

When her teacher friends find out she will be outcast, especially so when they see her enjoy it. For this I am sorry and will feel bad for her...

For three seconds, tops.

Most years are a tortuous affair, with political disscussions at the sacred table, usually ending in her enragment, while I calmly eat pie. (Ok, I may enjoy the win a little.) This year was very nice and am VERY thankful for that.

Don't lose any sleep @DRAINSMITH . She would have been unhappy anyway! Have the Dinner at your house next year too. After all, it's TRADITION! :)

(Cook all the food, bring it over and act like she made it and leave your gun?!? No offense intended but was she drunk?)

Hope everyone had a good holiday! My son puts on the Thanksgiving spread and we always have a good time. With the grandkids and other relatives there isn't much time for politics. I hit the range Friday on my own.

I got a PM from the Preacher and it has helped me a lot. And Demi thank you for your kind words. And no she was not drunk. If you all notice I don't post anything political on this form. That is because I make Rush Limbaugh look like Nancy Pelosi. And I have the tendency to piss folks off just talking reloading. I did tell her that I remove Hillery bumper stickers from vehicles for $20.00 because the person that put them on was too stupid to remove them without destroying the paint job. But I would have to charge her $50.00 to remove her "Bernie" sticker.

Now, she might get away with telling everyone that she cooked the one in the oven and maybe the deep fried ones. But everyone knows my smoked birds. One is done with mesquite wood from just outside of Abilene Texas. The wood is soaked in a liquid that comes in a 1 quart Mason jar from Arkansas. And the other bird is done with cherry wood from Virginia soaked in a different liquid that also comes in a Mason jar that some says taste like cherries. Both birds come out black. But ....How should I put this.......Damn.

I used to be an avid hunter and I went in with my dad and brother in the mid-70s to buy 90 acres of hunting land, that I now am 100% owner. At the time we planted 15 apple trees that 8 are still doing great. But after I left the Gulf in 1992 I have not shot anything that has a beating heart. Now I still like deer meat so I have 10 to 12 guys every year bag a deer on my land. And unlike most farmers that charge a small fortune to hunt their land, I charge a pound or two of jerky, a back strap or a couple pounds of ground deer.

Now most folks around me think that my land holds so many deer is because of my 9.2-acre pond but it is really the apple trees.

Spend as much time with her as you can, now.

My mother passed away eight years ago. I still have days when something happens where my first thought is, "I've got to call Mom and let her know about this" - and then the reality sinks in that I can't make that call.

I've never noticed you post anything that raised by ire. I've always thought your posts were well-reasoned and well-thought-out. I may have disagreed with the conclusion you reached on occasion, but I've always regarded that as an opportunity to explore the subject further.

My father returned from Vietnam with a similar sentiment. Strangely enough, he did not come back from World War II, Korea or the Philippines during the Huk uprising with that sentiment.
