Today, after a vast search through 4 counties and more than 150 miles (the 4 counties are counted from last friday), I found what I was looking for! I found a Smith and Wesson Model 66-7. I had a -2 a couple of years ago that got traded for something else  and I kicked myself ever since then. The itch to get another 66 started up again recently, and it was bad.

I didn't have the cash laying around to fund this itch, but I did have a practically new Glock 19. I sold it last Wedneday. :D After I sold it I DID have the funds and the search began. Friday I went to 8 different gun shops or pawn and today I went to 7 different shops. The furthest one away and the last place I went to today had the 66-7. The proprietor said it was a police trade-in that may have been used by a South American police dept. I called Smith and Wesson after I got it home and they wouldn't confirm nor deny where it was originally shipped. The chap I spoke with told me that my gun left the factory on May 28, 2004.

My 66-7 has some honest wear on it. I have already started polishing it up with Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish and I have a question. Is it possible to polish out surface scratches? The scratches aren't deep and you can't feel them when you rub your finger over them.

Regardless of the scratches I am very happy to have a 66 again!!!

No pictures until I get it in the shape I want it!

Hello. I understand about regretting letting guns "get away". I hope that this revolver serves you well for decades to come.

Congrats on your new revolver. The 19/66 in my opinion is the finest handling and feeling revolver ever made.

Good luck,
