Hard Case for Scope? Pelican-Like?

I usually get my serious cases (Pelicans and Storms) from Cases4Less. I get Gun Guard All Weather cases from Natchez when they are on sale (a good lower cost alternative IMO - but must be the All Weather (AW) series, not the lesser ones).

I got my Pelican at Midway. Others were a few bucks cheaper, but I had never dealt with them and would rather spend a tiny bit more than risk getting burned by a no-name website.

I have the pelican case that was provided by Trijicon witn my ACOG. it is great.

I also winned a STORM case at a shooting contest, which is perfect to store my AR-15.

both case are excellent , with equal quality

i've had a couple pelican cases and they were nice, but the storm case wins imho. the latches are far easier to operate. the hinges are better. even the foam seems better.

Is there any place that you can buy custom fitted cases? like foam that will surrond your rifle and scope?

The foam in the Pelican and Storm cases is either little cubes you pull out to form a custom fit, or it's solid and you cut it with a knife. Either way, it's painfully simple to turn the solid foam forms into a custom fit for your rifle and scope. (I think all the rifle-sized cases are solid foam that requires cutting; the smaller ones have the cubed foam.) I customized a Pelican case to fit 2 1911s and a Sig.

Storm will pre-cut the foam for you if you send them CAD drawings or something. I'm sure Pelican will do the same, but for a one-off application, it really is unnecessary.

there's a very enlightening thread on arfcom where some guy hacked a hot wire cutter and did a beautiful job cutting foam.
