An area shop has the S&W SD9VE on sale for $289.95. There is also a $25 rebate on this model making the after rebate price $265 and that was just to low to pass on. I picked one up on Saturday and ran 200 rounds through it on Sunday afternoon. I used a variety of ammo including Hydra Shoks, Winchester Defenders, reloads with an XTP bullet as well as a couple different 124 and 147 grain round nosed and had no malfunctions. The trigger is kind of long and about 8 pounds but I shoot double action revolvers a lot so it wasn't a big deal. The fit and finish are excellent and even the inside of the slide is devoid of machining marks. It came with 2 stainless magazines and I bought a third on sale for $9.95 (yes its a genuine S&W magazine). Its my third 9mm gun, joining a Shield and an SR9c. The SD9VE will most likely end up on my nightstand.

I've bought plenty of guns that I only had a mild interest in just cause the price was right. If I'm aware I can flip it for at least what I'm into it for easily enough, I'll take a chance on it.

Sometimes I find a keeper, sometimes I consider it a long term "test drive". Sometimes it sparks a whole new obsession to a line or feature set I hadn't given much thought.

I actually did a fair amount of research before this purchase and had to make a 2 hour round trip to the shop where this was on sale, so it wasn't an impulse buy based on just a good price.

I had one for a while. The trigger wasn't great, but it went bang every time.

Sounds like you got, pardon the pun, quite a bit of bang for your buck! Would make for a decent utility gun for that price.

I bought a used P320 Compact the other day for $369 w/ night sights and all. There's a lot of good deals out there..

Other than those who mistake the SD series for the Sigma the SDs , or are gun snobs, the SDs get really good reviews. So you did great! Congrats

These are great guns at a crazy low price. The warranty is bullet proof as is the gun pretty much, I cherry picked the best out of 6 and gave it to my son 20 years ago and he shot the crap out of it and the trigger got better and lighter and was very reliable. That was a 9mm, my other son still carries the .40 I picked out of the six of those I owned at one time . I sold the rest off for $300 each in 90s ! Rare to see something get better and come down in price !
