My wife found the above revolver in her deceased grandfathers sock draw. It doesn't even say what caliber it is but I would have to assume 32 something judging from the model. Anyone know anything about them? I'm trying to take the pin out to remove the cylinder for cleaning but no luck. Solid feeling little gun. Any info would be appreciated.

I have a 649, I think.

Yours is a .32 caliber. The pin should release if you press the release button across the front of the frame, with the gun in half-cock so the cylinder spins freely. If not, it might need some Break Free CLP sprayed into the mechanism. Soak it for a while to free up any powder fouling or other crud.

In case you haven't, make sure it's not loaded! Tragic accidents happen with heirlooms that way...

Neat find.

H&R still makes a dog training revolver on that frame, but they don't make handguns any more.

thanks for the info, but I don't see a release button and there is no half cock. What am I missing?

mine looks different than that. No lever in the front and no circular place machined in the frame for loading like yours. Hammer is a different shape also

well, learn something every day. Now, if I took pics that weren't so blurry

alright, I got mad and gentlely pulled it out with pliars wrapped in a rag. It popped right out. I'm going over it now, cleaning and oiling. It was bone dry, who knows how long it was sitting in that draw

thanks for the help. Now to buy a box of shells. 32 S&W long correct? Was hoping it was a 32 H&R. Very surprised it doesn't have the caliber wrote on it somewhere.
