Has anybody seen the 2.5" 44 mg taurus tracker?

I can't seem to find the right speedloader yet. Anybody know which 5 round make/model is right?

The correct HKS loader is the number CA44 for the 5 shot .44

If one doesn't like the porting you might consider the .44 C tracker 4 inch barrel and have it cut to 3 inch barrel length. That would give you adjustable sights and eliminate the porting.

These are medium frame guns ,about comparible to the L-frame S&W . I use mine with the idea of having it be a good .44 Spl gun that I can shoot an occasionl run of .44 magnums through. If you like .44 mag. and want to shoot a lot of heavy slug, or higher pressure ammo, I would go with the larger frame guns. Nothing wrong with the .44Spl cartridge for SD , and you don't have to beat up your gun ,or withstand brutal recoil, to shoot them through this model.

MNrivrat i have thought the same thing about cutting down the four inch barrel. If you did you would cut right through the writing on the barrel. I wish Taurus offered the option of a choice of ported or not ported.

The gun appears to have a barrel with a sleeve over it in the fashion of the new light weight snubbies. It would not be hard to make the barrels longer to come to the end of the shroud.

When i bought my gun i wanted a light weight revolver for shooting shot loads at rattlesnakes. The ported area of the barrel has a step on the end of the shroud and shot would crash into it if fired. I am thinking about removing the step so i can shoot shot loads.

The crane area is not larger than a K frame Smith. I would limit the amount of full power loads used in one of these guns. I have midrange loads in 44 mag brass that i shoot. My 200 grain loads are going around 1000 fps and aren't too bad to fire. My favorite load is 6 gr Red Dot with a 240 gr Laser Cast for around 800 fps in mag brass.

2.5 inch Taurus Tracker .44 magnum

Yes! i just picked one up from my local gun store for $429.00. it has a fixed rear sight with a hi-viz front site. Shoots great, and the recoil is surprisingly forgiving. Acceptable accuracy but is definately sighted in for close range. I shot about 75 240 grain power loads and 20 specials with no sore hand afterwards. This gun is very loud and has a very impressive fireball. hope you can find one, i hear they are pretty rare, and i definately recommend the 2.5 inch (2.25" of rifling) 44 magnum Tracker, again if you can find one.:neener:

I like the tracker concept for outdoor carry. I don't particularly like ported barrels in guns I'm going to shoot a lot, ear protection or not, but a light, powerful gun has merit in some areas where you might meet a Griz. However, I think .357 is enough for me so I really haven't gone agog over the big 30 ounce or less magnums. They just sound like a 12 ounce scandium .357, something neat to carry, but God help you if you have to fire it. I had the hots for a titanium .41 mag tracker for a while, but they quit making it. I could never justify the expense anyway and .357 is enough for where I live and hike, really.

If I get a .41 someday, and I've had the desire for that caliber for a while, it'll likely be in a Blackhawk. I'm sorta nuts over my Blackhawks and need more. :D And, I want more'n 2.5" of barrel in an outdoor carry. I guess that shorty .44 would be kinda neat CCW, but GAWD, I woundn't wanna fire that loud BEEOCH indoors without muffs. Might not ever be able to hear classic Led Zepplin again. LOL! That's sorta what I got against .357 for home protection, but with a muzzle break? OUCH!
