Has anyone come any closer?

Like a lot of shooters I thought it would be fun to have a “birth-year” gun, one made in the year I was born. Last year I accidentally wound with two such pieces, buying both not knowing they were made in 1955. The 1950 Target pictured below was almost a “birthday gun.” It was shipped one week to the day after I was born. Has anyone come any closer than this?

Cool idea...never thought about it.....

Closest I've come is a Polish M-44, rearsenalled (I assume) in 1953 (I was also born in 1955...

Sheesh...now you've given me yet another reason to buy a gun I can't afford!
 
I have a S&W M&P Lend-Lease revolver made in 1942. Close, but no cigar, since I entered the cold, cruel world three weeks before Pearl Harbor.

That is seemingly a very sad statement. I think it sad not because there were never any guns manufactured on Christmas day, my best guess would be that many guns have been made on that day, but because you apparently think such is the case. Is it that you think that guns currently are not, and have never been, manufactured on Christmas; or is it that you just would not allow yourself to have one because your birthday falls of a Christian religious holiday?

There are plenty of businesses throughout the world that conduct business as usual on Christmas day. I am willing to bet that, at least sometime throughout the history of the gun, some of these businesses have been firearms manufacturers. My guess would also be that during wartime, some firearms maufacturers who would have normally closed on Christmas may have had their production lines running.
 
I did.

Between theft and fire I do not have any of the 1955 Firearms I had. Ranging from 870 shotguns to some Kframe revolvers and such.

I do still have some 1955 Field & Stream Magazines, and a 1954 Coleman lantern - that count? :)

Oh, still no luck on finding an April of 1955 of F&S. Just gotta have...wonder what story Ruark wrote that issue, or what fiream, ammo discussed?

I do have a 1928 Colt Detective Special...it still shoots great. Just like some 78 y/o folks I know. ;)
 
My P-64 was born the same year as me.

1974. Only reason I bought it over the PPK.
(plus I love the 9x18 makarov round.)

Anyway, yeah I dunno enough 'bout the guns I already own to know when they were built, but I know at least one of 'em is off by forty years+ (my M48), and the rest seem to be of more recent manufacture (Springfield Mil-Spec, Ruger Mini-14 Ranch, Mossberg Maverick 88 Field). For the record, if somebody finds a gun from May 20, 1987, lemme know. :D

Great idea!!

Your poor, old retired Grandpa Vern needs a complete set of pre-64 Winchester Model 70s. If you buy them for him, you can inherit them later.:D
 
thatguy- is that a model 19? OH, how I wish for a 19. Those were some fabulous guns.
 
I have a pistol that was made two days before my birthday in the year I could first buy a handgun. If that makes sense how I wrote it. Its my favorite gun too. :)
 
Nolefan- No, it's a 1950 Target .44 Special with a 5" barrel. Would become the Model 24 in 1957 but very few were made with model numbers because once the .44 Magnum came out in 1956 the sales on the .44 Special fell off sharly and the model was dropped officially in 1966.

Oh, sorry, didn't realize that was the name of the gun. Wow, that's kinda small for a .44, isn't it? Maybe it's just the picture...
