Has anyone ever carried two full size pistols at once

probably more than you can imagine.

I carry a 1911 and two mags everyday and have been looking for a way to carry a second one comfortably. I will get a left handed holster as soon as the right one comes available. Another IWB is out of the question. A shoulder holster or even a double rig may be in the cards.
 
I carry a 1911 in a shoulder rig with a 2 mag pouch.....and another aluminum frame 1911 I built in a belt holster................shoulder rig on the left.....belt on the right
 
No, but I have carried a full-size pistol and an M-60 machinegun a lot of miles!

Seriously, shoulder holsters seem like a brilliant idea, and look awesome on the movie & TV detectives!
Until you try them for a while.

One guns weight digging into your shoulder & neck muscles all day is bad enough, let along two!

Not to mention the sweat sticking your shirt to you under the harness all the time you have it on.

For a period of time, I was training myself to do two gun shooting, and have two double shoulder holster rigs. One is an Alessi Bodyguard for two 1911's, and the other is an Idaho Leather "Last Man Standing" rig, also for 1911's. They both carry the guns extrmently well, and nicely balanced, but the Alessi is more concealable, and thus infinitely more practical. There is no reason why a two gun shoulder rig would not serve well for the person who favors a "New York reload", or someone like a bodyguard, who might find themselves attacked by a greater number of people intent on harming their client, and wanted the added security of a second powerful gun that used the same ammo/magazines as their primary gun, in the event gun #1 jammed, was damaged, or got out of reach during the defense. I have always thought a double rig with two Glock 20's (16 rounds of 10mm each) and 4-6 extra mags would arm a bodyguard about as well as anything someone could throw at him.

I'm still trying to make myself carry my LCP everywhere everyday...i don't think i could ever pack 2 full size guns all the time
 
I have an old friend who's a local character down in Kennesaw, GA who carries two longslide 1911s Wild Bill Hickok style.

Kennesaw is of course the town where citizens are required by law to own guns (and also a place where the Rebs really put a whuppin' on the Yanks, and never let a D*** Yankee forget it).

Anybody from down that way probably knows who I'm talking about.

i tried it once. it was awfully heavy, and very uncomfortable to do. let alone drive with. i am sure someone has done it successfully, but it is to much of a pain, literally, for me to do. if i needed that much firepower just to walk or drive around town with. I WOULD MOVE!
 
I don't see much point in carrying two full-sized pistols... One full-sized, dependable, double stacked should be fine with a smaller back-up... That's what I do. I carry a G22 (15 rounds) and a Kel-Tec P32 in the pocket. I don't highly recommend the P32, but for now that's what I have. I would think that a full-sized 10mm, .45, or .40 with a pocket 9mm or even .380 would be pretty darn good.
 
MANY TIMES.

I was LEO and was threatened by drug gang [ notified by my agency ] and so I took 'precautions'.

I carried as many as 3 "fullsized" handguns.

The dept 9 MM,a Glock in .40 S&W [ model 23 ],and a S&W 442.

The 2 semi auto's were on the belt,strong side and cross draw.

The 442 was ankle.

On the seat was a 20 gauge w/ 18" barrel and pistol grip stock.

On back seat was AK-47 [ semi auto ] w/ 30 round stick mag.

Now retired,I still often carry 2,usually strong side and cross draw or second gun is pocket or shoulder holster..

I view a gun as a EXTREME tool,and those are needed ,and NEEDED at once.

So a NYC reload is my prefered manner of backup.

If using my primary and it 'goes down' I will most likely die if not prepared - ergo the 2 nd gun.
 
I agree with Freedom. I carry a Beretta 92 and if 17 rounds can get me out of the situation, I shouldn't have been there....

I also had a co worker come to a former employment carrying 5 full size pistols and a slung AK style semi auto rifle concealed under a black leather trench coat. I made him leave most of the hardware in the vault that day.
 
Only for something like Cowboy Action Shooting, or after the Zombie Apocalypse starts. I love the look of that 1911 double shoulder-holster rig in Last Man Standing, but it's too heavy to tote around all day, unless combat seems imminent.

Only when unloading my range bag.

If I felt the need for that I'd be carrying a rifle or most likely locked up in my bomb shelter already.
 
Movie trivia: a pair of 1911s in a classic Bogart flick

"Wilmer", the "gunsel"* played by Elisha Cook, Jr. in "The Maltese Falcon" carried two 1911 Gov't Models, but was disarmed by Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart), who turned the guns over to the gunsel's boss, played by Sydney Greenstreet, telling him that they'd been taken from Wilmer by "a blind 'newsie' [newsstand operator]".

* "Gunsel" is actually a Yiddish word that had nothing to do with guns until Dashiell Hammett sneaked it past the censors and into the dialog. The original meaning is close to the Yiddish word feygeleh or the Spanish maricon.

Yes but only at home. It was a XD40 in a thumb break OWB and a Hi Power right behind it in a IWB. Weight got to me even at home so I only do that if I'm feeling bored.

I loved that post of your's about "gunsel" and it is one I have never heard.

I am a fan of Hammett and I will have to look that one up,thank you.

AND the Maltese Falcon is one of THE greatest movies ever,acting,plot !!.
 
Did it once.As a joke,2 fullsize 1911s,One in a crossdraw,the other strongside.Thought it was pretty amusing,Till my pants fell down.THEN everyone else seemed to get the joke

Some people believe in the use of a back-up pistol, others don't. (And some believe in snark.)

For those who believe in one, which makes more sense: after your primary gun has run dry or otherwise become unusable, and the gunfight is still going on, do you want a small-caliber pocket gun with sort-of-usable sights, or an exact copy of the standard-size gun that you were just using?

Makes carrying reloads easier, too. Unless you believe that if you carry spare ammo, you should be carrying a rifle!
