I keep getting all sorts of emails and letters from this group. I didn't know if anyone here had dealt with them, or knew anything about them.

Dear Friend,

In recent years, we in this country and state have grown more accustomed to the government growing ever larger and more active in our lives. As a result, many freedoms and liberties that we hold dear are slowly being encroached upon more every day.

Our Constitutional rights and freedoms seem to be under attack at a feverish pace. As we have seen in recent days, the United States Supreme Court has allowed the state to take our property in the name of economic development. The federal government is usurping the local control of our schools and deciding what's best for our children. Religious liberties and freedoms are being denied those who wish to express such views, and individual access to courts is being limited in the name of economic growth.

The battleground for the protection of our liberties can not be fought merely between two political parties, but instead it must take place at the most local of levels...within the hearts and minds of all who wish to maintain these values in our state and country. The protections afforded within the United States Constitution must be jealously guarded, which is why I write to you today.

It is my pleasure to announce the beginning of the Oklahoma Center for Law & Policy. The OCLP will be a central clearinghouse for information related to the conservative debate. With an emphasis on how our law and public policy affect our rights under the Constitution, we will work to provide all Oklahomans the information they need to remain informed on a host of issues such as first and second amendment protections, religious liberties, personal property rights, and civil justice issues.

The Oklahoma Center for Law & Policy is an unincorporated association funded by private donations from concerned citizens such as you who hope to provide a true constitutional perspective on the issues of the day. We are not asking for your money at this time, but we are asking for your ideas and input.

Our address is listed below, and our phone number is 405-418-2084. If you have questions or would like more information on OCLP, please don't hesitate to call. You can also find more information at www.okclp.org. I look forward to our discussion.

Sincerely,

Christopher D. Smith
Executive Director
