Curious about it...Is it a reliable method for payment? Anything not good about it? Any info appreciated...

It's now called "GPal" to make it more marketable.

I used it to sell a gun a little while ago - worked just great, personally no problems with it. However, I have heard of some people having problems such as slow payment, etc - may even have been on here, IIRC, so worth doing a quick search of this forum.

We use it on our site. So far its been basic (not as developed an integration as others) but it works and they do as they say.

So far though its been small transactions and isn't that widely accepted, but it is growing day by day.

I've used it several times in the last few months, mostly as a payment option for grips I make, but also made a couple payments, worked fine for me, no delays.

Works fine, but it takes 5-7 days to move money from Gpal to my checking account versus 3-4 days for Paypal.

Funny name for a payment processing site. Well, not funny really, it's just very fitting for this forum. :)

Anyway, I just want to ask if gpal is affiliated in any way with google. I've been looking for an alternative to paypal and I would trust something that's already backed by google more than something that's not.

I've used GPal (GunPal) for about 4 transactions over the last 3 or 4 months. All transactions were very satisfactory. No issues whatsoever.

Having some problems with G Pal now. Sold gun on 6/19/10-still have not gotten my money from G Pal. Very slow answering emails. Got an email from them on 7.20/10 said that their system did not work with deposits to banks, would have me a check in mail in 10 business days. Have not received check yet and have not received an answer to email?

I just had a customer with a similar experience. Payment doesn't show, no answer to repeated email, no answer to repeated phone calls.

He finally mailed me a check.

And a followup ... I am now still waiting for payments FROM GPal for items I have sold and shipped to customers from June, July and August (it is now Mid-October).

Emails (beyond getting the initial "trouble ticket") go un-answered, and calls to "customer service" are either never picked up, or hung up on at some point after being picked up/put on hold.

At this point I doubt that I'll see the money I am owed.

Just adding this post so others see again.. GPAL NO GOOD!!!! many of us dealers had ENORMOUS problems with gpal.. unanswered emails and phone calls, no customer service.. gpal started circling the drain towards eventual bankruptcy and stopped communications with customers.

The most recent reports are the ones people should be paying attention to. There are numerous discussions about Gpal and its owner Ben Cannon on the Internet, and I can't say there's much there that inspires confidence.

Of late, it appears to be taking people months to get paid, with zero response from Gpal other than the initial issuance of ticket numbers. Users are asked to use the forums on Calguns for tech support, and posts there are not handled professionally (I've seen many screenshots of deleted threads, or threads edited by someone named "GpalVP" that change complaints into positive statements.)

If what I've read online is correct there are multiple law enforcement investigations from the Healdsburg PD, Sonoma County PD, and FBI, and there look to be many more as required licenses for transferring money were not acquired in at least 32 states that require them.

This is a mess. I have never used Gpal, but if what I've seen is any indication then you do not want to get involved in this right now. Don't put your money at risk.

Good info Derek .. I simply set up an account and now 10 days later the 2 little confirmation micro deposits still haven't showed up.

I tried to contact them, and due to "taking longer than 48 hours to answer tickets" they even shut down being able to contact !!! :what:

Heard on another forum that Ben Cannon (Owner of Gpal) has liens filed against him from defaulting on American Express to the tune of $50,000, and the creditors seized the Gpal funds. Can't verify this, but at any rate, RUN DO NOT WALK away from Gpal. There's thousands and thousands of dollars in limbo and apparantly various state and federal LEOs are about to fall on Gpal like an imploded skyscraper.
