:confused: Has anyone ever seen a pistol like this who could help me with a little history? I'll take anything, because as you can see below, I don't even know the make or model. It's a single shot, tip-up barrel, pistol with a wood one piece grip. My best guess is a mom and pop pistol sold from a hardware store!

Markings:
-Part Letter/Number Throughtout: V
-Barrel: 3 5/8", rifled, tip-up

Look at front face of hammer, in front of spur. A piece is missing. From that and the little hole in the top of barrel it appears to be a pin fire model. Start your search there, and possibly get a rough bore size using a regular bullet as a gauge.
 
Definitely a pinfire pistol, which also means that it's almost certainly European (pinfires were never really popular in the US, compared to separate-loaded percussion guns). It's built along the same lines as a "saloon" or "boot" pistol, but with an early-style shotgun breeching system so you can tip the barrel down to load. You should be able to see some stamps on the bottom of the barrel that would let us know which country it was built in.
 
No markings, stamps, or anything on the underside of the barrel or the block. Nothing. :mad:
 
You might look for some pics of Flobert parlor pistols.

French had indoor games that they played with pistols similar to this. I think most shot .22 CBs.
 
My guess at an origin would be Belgium or France. In that condition, it is possible that any proof marks have worn or rusted away.
