I came across some older 870 Wingmasters (70's & 80's vintage) from a police department that are marked in block lettering in the upper left hand side of the receivers with "PIMC COMBAT". The stamping looks like factory markings, not aftermarket. About 8 of the 40 shotguns I saw were marked this way. I haven't been able to find any info on the web. Can anyone help with info? Thanks in advance.

Remington routinely marks laws enforcement agency's shotguns with special stamps.

This is simply another service they offer to save the department having to have a special stamp made themselves.

I've seen some of the shotguns marked by the factory for the agency with writing that says the gun is dept property, or a police agency name, but the "PIMC COMBAT" markings don't match the agency name or department designation, not even close. The stamping is in the upper left hand forward corner. Most Remington stampings I've seen are on the lower portion of the receivers. None of the old timers can remember seeing anything like that on these guns. These came out of patrol cars and spent their lives with this agency. I'm just wondering why only a few of these have such markings and what they may stand for.

"PIMC COMBAT"

you read it wrong. it actually said "PIMP COMBAT" that particular model came from the factory with solid pearl stock and handguard, which must have been stripped and sold off as parts.

Man, now I've got the image of a little pair of fuzzy dice hangin' off the sling swivels stuck in my mind LOL

Any chance these are for sale for a really cheap price? :D Don't be holding out on us!
