I'm thinking of sending in my new Colt Delta Elite to Wilson for front strap checkering, beavertail, trigger job, and a bevel of the sharp edges. Has anyone here sent in a non-Wilson 1911 for work? What do you think about it? Most people really like their 1911's, but you never hear about their custom work on other pistols. The pricing isn't too bad from what I've found and the wait is only about 6-8 weeks compared to the 12-18 months I've seen for some other people.

my sisters boyfriend sent in colt 10mm for some work. they screwed up his barrel, he sent it back, they fixed it, sent it back to him, it was still screwed up, sent it back again, they said they fixed it again and asked him not to shoot BB 200grain in it anymore :D

Have not had a handgun in for work but I have sent in a shotgun for them to go over and refinish with their Armor-Tuff finish. It was done in the time they stated it would be and the work was excellent. I was very happy with it and would recommend them to others.

how much do they charge to refinish shotguns?

I find it hard to believe a company that sells a LOT of $2500 guns would screw anything up when you send it to get work... I mean I guess it is possible but it seems about as likely as a XD or Glock not firing at all...

I have experience with their parts, which all seem to be absolutely beyond reproach. This may be helpful as a tangential indicator of their quality control, generally.

Just for grins, you may want to ask around to see if there is a smith local to you who does excellent work.

I have a guy about 20 minutes from me that does great work, but I was just thinking about doing something different this time.

The nicest Wilson I ever saw was a Colt.
True, it was done some years ago before Wilson was selling their own brand. Heck, Bill probably worked on it himself.
