I am considering the Sig 1911-GSR Revolution Carry in 45 caliber for home defense. My wife & I shot both the Sig220 & Sig-GSR at our local range. My accuracy was good with the Sig 220 but my accuracy with the Sig 1911-GSR was excellent.
Has anyone else shot the Sig 1911-GSR? And if you did shoot this gun was the gun reliable in feeding and functioning. I was considering the .357 mag for home defense but that handgun would probably make me both deaf & blind if I ever had to shot the gun inside the home. The most important thing to me is --is this handgun reliable?

Most of my shots were in the 4 inch red bullseye! My wife had all but 4 shots in the same bullseye from 15 feet away out of 10 rounds.
What do you think of the Sig 1911-GSR and its quality?
Thank-You for your feedback!

You get the excellent Sig quality with the GSR, but don't leave out other manufacturers of 1911 pistols. You may find that another company could give you more bang for the buck.

I have a fullsize GSR 1911, I have around 1800-2000rnds through it at this point and haven't had any problems related to the gun. Mine is an earlier sample as well. My original 2 magazines did split around the top, however I heard this was a problem with early magazines. SIG did replace my mags hassle-free. I've had Kimbers, Springfield, etc and feel the GSR is a far nicer made piece. Not to mention my Kimbers and Springfields were never 100% reliable as the GSR is. The only other 1911's I own right now are a Nighthawk GRP and a Wilson CQB Compact. The Nighthawk seems the most accurate, but I've only put 200rnds through it so far. Still, I feel the GSR is hard to beat for the price, vs features and such.

What other 1911's could give me more bang for the buck?

I just ordered one of these: Dan Wesson CBOB

The above link has outdated info and an outdated image, but basically you get a Series 70 style 1911 with all Ed Brown internal parts, a match barrel, night sights, and hand fitting for less than $1,000. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pics and a range report tomorrow. It gets rave reviews, so I hope it lives up to them.
