Hey y'all, I stumbled across an auction website called Proxibid today. I'd heard of it before here and there but never much about it and I'd never visited it myself. After browsing a bit I saw a lot of ended auctions where people made out like bandits with dirt cheap prices on C&R and Antique firearms, which is my main area of interest. I was wondering if any of you guys have ever used this site or heard about it from friends?

I have looked in the past. One thing you should be aware of is that the firearms sales are mainly, if not exclusively, auctions: Rock Island, Julia etc., so the prices you are seeing are the bids made in Proxibid, without buyer's premium, tax, shipping and handling, which can add up. For example, a winning bid of $800 in an item at Rock Island Auctions can translate to $1100 once buyers premium, sales tax shipping and handling are added on, so keep that in mind.

Find a local auction house to consign for you at 10-15% and it is an excellent way to disposition a collection. Buying on the other hand can get expensive... It does bring in the buyers though.

Proxibid is representing auction houses. If you find an item or an auction you're interested in see if you deal directly with that auction house. Some consign their online portion to Pb but some conduct their on online bidding.

I find the best values in many of these auctions are in the larger lots. Not every one can buy multiple guns just to get one. But selling off the others individually can sometimes pay off.
