Has THR influenced your firearms interests?

I don’t think THR has really influenced my interests but THR has expanded my ability. Without THR I wouldn’t have the understanding I have of reloading and basic gunsmithing that I have. I have always loved the old school stuff and still do.

I suppose there are a lot of guns or accessories I first learned of from various forums. So I suppose just my general learning from them influenced my interests to a degree.

You bet.

Many, if not most of my most recent gun purchases are because of THR members posting pictures, first hand use impressions and range reports.

I think my safe has become a lot more well rounded (and much more well stocked!) as a result. :)

Stay safe.

Clarification: yes, THR has stimulated interest in different gun types. It can really help a gun late bloomer with info which even very seasoned gun friends aren't familiar with.

But what inspired the only confidence in detailed disassembly/reassembly of frame parts etc?
Youtube; the superb videos for the S&W 3rd. Gen guns ("blubelly2": has perfect illumination etc) and another guy for the Sig P6/P228 ("Ashburn Armorer") are absolutely Essential.

I didn't start shooting regularly until my early 30's. My neighbor is a Korean War vet. He was also on the local police sharpshooter club. He asked me to go shooting with him one day and I was hooked. He just turned 90. I still shoot with him and learn from him. Love the man dearly.

No, I am such a stuck in the mud/behind the times Neanderthal, or a person of refined tastes and discernment who knows exactly what he wants (choose one) who tastes were formed long before the Internet. As an example I won't even touch a Ruger New Model, both mine are Old Models, they are what a single action should be.

Yes a little. I first saw the Ruger PC carbine discussed here. Then I did some online research and decided I needed a couple. Scheels called me when they got them in and I bought two right then.

Yep! With such a wide variety of topics, one learns things that were not intended, always a pleasant surprise. Very valuable, entertaining, focused, and the best pig hunting thread on the 'net. Thank you very much.

Yes, this and other forums have given this old timer a plethora of info. A bit of background, I sold my guns over 20 years ago when I moved (had to sell - didn't want to) and only late last year (after a move back to central Ohio) did I get the itch to start again. So I did my due diligence and researched various forums, found this one and a few others, registered and went from there. I pretty much had to start from scratch, knew little or nothing current about gun regulations, everything from purchasing to conceal carry, open carry, etc., etc. I had an idea of what I wanted, but wasn't ready to 'pull the trigger' so to speak until I did the research, spoke to some friends and used the wealth of knowledge here and on the other sites that I frequent (including of course, YouTube) to assist in setting me on the right path towards the purchases of my new firearms, ammo (or lack thereof), shooting accessories, finding out where to register and what steps to take in order to obtain a conceal carry permit and pretty much everything else firearm and firearm safety related. The internet wasn't near back then what it is now and I'm mightily impressed with what's out there today info-wise. Hey, this old geezer's a straight shootin happy camper.
