Wanted to share what may be a good buy in a new .22

I picked up a Savage MkII bolt-action with a Bushnell 2-9x40 (on a really pretty tiger-stripe stock!) at Dick's for under $200. I had a $10 coupon and it was on sale, but I'd recommend looking out for it if a bolt .22's in need.

It's magazine-fed, not sure if there are options on that; has swivels. Seems like a rifle with enough qualities to recommend it. I have a plinker (Marlin 60), but practicing the basics on a bolt .22 just seems like a no-brainer. If I get rid of it, it will likely be because I'm giving it as a trainer. But I can see getting tons of fun out of it and really enjoying the accuracy, can't wait to sight it in!

I have a MKII BTV with the thumbhole stock and it shoots tiny little groups. Great gun, I really need to get better glass on it though. Good buy, now go out and enjoy it. Bolt .22s are fun, and the Savage is a good one. The accu-trigger is great.

If it's that good I may eventually look for a thumbhole stock too. I'd be happy to put the one that came with it on ANYTHING. I don't suppose they can easliy be made to fit anything else?

I have a Savage Mk II Mako that I use for low cost fun and to teach others to shoot with.
LOVE the Savage bolt rifles.
Great purchase.

Thanks, Jim.

Does anyone know if the stocks off the MkII's readily fit anything else? If I ever get a thumbhole stock for mine I could use the tiger-striped one it came with with something else.

Integrally Suppressed MKII

I am personally a big fan of the MKIIs. Great rifle for the price and the accutrigger is a big bonus. Here's a pic of one of ours.
