Have Rush or Sean mentioned the run on guns?

Are you kidding me?
i mean, really....

No! Liddy had one of the most entertaining programs on radio. Whether you loved or hated the man, his show was engaging, you never knew what would come out of his mouth next. It's entertainment, like watching Carlin or Mahr, you don't need to agree with the host to be entertained by them.

When we talk about the "well regulated militia" being necessary to defend ourselves against an overzealous government - it's to defend ourselves from people like Gordon Liddy. I'll admit he makes some good points from time to time, and he's a smart guy - but in the bigger picture - he is exactly what's wrong with this country.

Oh fudgesticks, Liddy isn't anywhere near as dangerous to our country as Hillary, Obama, Bill Clinton, Pelosi, Feinstein, Boxer, and other lefties.
One guy who's claim to fame was a botched "burglary" in which he was CAUGHT and which lead to a presidential resignation .... I lived through that era; what happened in the years up to that point posed far greater dangers to this country than a botched "robbery."

Liddy has been a d@mn fine spokesman for gunrights, the second amendment, the Constitution of the United States and Freedom.
He may indeed be a "character" but I bet if you added up the IQ of everyone on THR it might just approach Liddy's IQ on a stupid day.

Smart or not - when your idea of political opposition is assassination, illegal wiretapping, kidnapping, and firebombing - you've crossed a line.

What you're saying is - damn the rest of the constitution, who cares if they cross the line - they're smart and they speak out about gun rights?!?!?! are you SERIOUS?

The fact that someone can sit there with a straight face, and tell me that "lefties" are more dangerous because of their ideas - then someone who openly admitted planning firebombings and assassinations against political opponents - are somehow more dangerous, just because you disagree with the ideas - is highly concerning.

Perhaps you lived through that era - but perhaps you should do a little more research into what people like Liddy had planned and wanted to do - and compare that to a little thing called the bill of rights. If you still don't see a problem - then, i don't know what the hell to say.

I don't mind Rush's drug situation so much as it had little if anything to do with his commentary. If he had been on tirades about drug use I would have felt differently about it. As far as I can tell, it's either in the past, or not affecting the present, either of which is fine with me.

I've had close friends and family members who have struggled with dependency and addiction to opiates, and it's no joke. The few occasions I have been advised by a doctor to use them, I couldn't discern any effect at all. They make my wife go instantly suicidal, she can't touch them. But to many people, they are instantly as addictive as heroin. Rush came clean, got hammered in a very unethical way by the mainstream press, and had his medical records scoured. I dislike what THEY did at least as much as what HE did.

Actually - he did make many anti-drug tirades, while he was doped up. There's been countless times he's gone off about how all drug addicts are a blight against society and they should be locked up and never see the light of day again.

Funny, when he comes out he's addicted to hillbilly heroin, now all of the sudden people deserve a second chance.

Man is a hypocrite of the n'th degree.

I never heard it, of course I don't listen to him much. (You must listen to him more than I do.) I do remember at the time it came out, all the haters could dig up that was pertinent were a couple of years-old comments about Kurt Cobain.

I used to listen a lot more then I do now, and he had made a lot of statements about drug users and what to do with 'em.
Hell - he even used to talk about it when he had his show on (i think it was) HBO.

Sounds a lot like Bill Ayres. Who's he good friends
with?

Liddy - funny enough, he threw fundraisers for McCain.

Would like to avoid that topic though - getting a little too political now...

Hell, the leftists and statists have no problem using people with 'checkered' pasts. For starters, there's the Hero of Chappaquiddick, a former high ranking Klansman that is thought of very highly in the democratic party, and now a President-Elect that hasn't chosen his associates too well. Plus he's a creation of the Chicago political machine.

If we wait for a spokesman without flaw, we'll be waiting a long time. Dig deep enough and you'll find dirt on anyone. If the guy is right in his views and effective in delivering his message, he's useful IMO.

K3 - but you're trying to say that Guilt by association, is the same as guilt. If you notice, i never once slammed McCain over the Liddy thing, never even brought it up until somebody asked. Association is not the same as guilt.

What you're talking about is actively standing behind someone who plotted against fellow Americans, just because they happen to support the same cause as you. Sorry - that does NOT fly. You can rationalize it however you want, but the fact of the matter is, the man is trash and a felon. Period.

If Hannity and Rush did nothing but 3hrs on guns from here on out (save for a occasional special) they would lose 95%+ of their listenership.

As for Liddy I recall he is pro 2nd I also recall he had a radio show and said some VERY non-highroad things about the ATF.

you mean this?

"They've got a big target on there, ATF. Don't shoot at that, because they've got a vest on underneath that. Head shots, head shots.... Kill the sons of bitches.
