Elite custom or obscene butchery. Post your guns that have been modified.

Oh man, I just realized that I have a bunch of these. More than I thought. OK, I'll post a couple.

Pair of S&W 1950 44 Special Target Models returned to S&W in 1970. Both started with 6.5" barrels and one was replaced with a 5" tube and the other cut to that length. Both were also fitted with smooth triggers and wider hammers.

I bought this new in Feb. of 1973. In 1975 I had the S&W sights installed and added the ivory stocks ($32.50 at the time).

This 22 belonged to a gunsmith. He cut the barrel to 20" and weighted the fore-end to maintain balance. Bedded the action/barrel, polished the locking lugs, even drilled and tapped the action for an additional screw to make it more stable.

This Remington Model 30S from the 1930s is a total custom. Cartridge is a wildcat made by necking up the 404 Jeffrey to 458 and blowing out the shoulder for more capacity.

I have to include at least one Mauser. Laminated stock, reworked bolt handle, leaf sights, barrel swivel, etc.

Love your matched 44s. beautiful revolvers.

I do not think I have a firearm I haven't done something to even if it is just add butt pads on except my cheapy chinese coach gun.

Added checkering to front strap and trigger guard, an under lug on the 14" barrel for a removable bipod (extreme long distances), and a stud in the pistol grip for a neck sling. Neck sling enables the gun to be held solid for two hand stance. Finally black chrome finish for the upper end to compliment the stainless frame.

Have we done a modified gun thread?

Only a few hundred times since I have been a member.

But the topics fade away over time so a new one is always a good thing. :D

They are classics

I like seeing modified guns. Like Sp said they range from crap to works of art but they are an extension of the one who had the mods done. Many of the smart old time(& some of the new) gunmen fixed their weapons to what worked for them.
My favorite is a Third model Hand Ejector .44 Special that went to Houston PD, later back to the factory, and has a very unusual grip adapter custom fit to the revolver that turns the grip into a Single Action style. The barrel is cut to 3 1/2 and the action is silky smooth.

I've posted about these several times, but since you asked...

S&W 360J, rechambered to 9x23 (will shoot 9mm, .38ACP, .38 Super, 9mm Largo, 356TSW, 9x23 Win, and probably a couple of others I can't think of).
Cylinder cut for moonclips and charge holes chamfered, cylinder coated by Robar with NP3, forcing cone chamfered, action job, 1/2 bobbed hammer, trigger rounded and polished, front sight replaced with fiber optic, CT laser grips.

Savage MKII BV with Sharp Shooter Supply MTR stock that's been pillar bedded, action lightened, barrel recrowned with "deep dish" 11 degree target crown, the barrel, receiver, and bottom metal have been parkerized. Since this pic was taken the Mueller APV scope has been replaced with a Nikon 4.5-14x and it has a shorter Harris bipod. This rifle is very accurate, when the wind is right and I'm on, I can easily get sub-MOA groups at 100yds off the bipod using subsonic ammo.

I'm guilty of picture whoring here (because I've posted this a half dozen times) but I'm going to do it anyway:

Had a Ruger MkIII22/45, pried off the Ruger medallions, ground and filed frame to match a 1911 frame width, drilled and tapped frame, added 1911 bushings, installed new grips, delawyerized it. It feels more 1911-y now. :D

i got a hakim incomplete some years ago and converted it into a zombie slayer by cutting the barrel to 17" and soldering the original brake in place, chopping off the buttstock, and adding an AK47 type underfolder stock and a homemade oak pistol grip. the upper handguard was missing, so i made one out of a split piece of aluminum pipe (vented, of course). i added a modified MG13 mag to get it up to 25 rd capacity, but the mag is pinned in place and loads with stripper clips thru the open action. the gun was chronographed at 2200 fps with ecuadoran 198gr milsurp, so is one and one half times as potent as an AK, in terms of terminal ballistics. at 28" OAL it shoots like an AK on sterioids. i think of it as a "poor man's BM59". did i mention that i modified the bayo lugs to accept a CETME bayo?

this pic was taken at whitington center during the 2007 FALFEST:

Does anyone leave their guns stock anymore? I have very few guns that I haven't modified in some way or another (excluding collectible and historic guns).

Mid-length AR, not really modified just alot of bolt on stuff. Mossy 500 with all sorts of stuff.

WASR-10/63, refinished wood, polished bolt carrier, shimmed mag well, mojo sights

RIA 1911, still needs more work, I just did a light carry bevel to the frame, high-cut under the trigger guard, and refinished with OD alumahyde

Model 1891 Argentine Mauser, all matching with a perfect crest. Back in the '50's Williams used to make a good living sporterizing old military rifles. The checkering and carving are actually very well done, and it had a peep sight installed.

My .275 Rigby started life as a Czek VZ24 Mauser.
