heheh, oh hell yes.

ive done that with a few .50 DE's, gotta find the video

I believe one of our esteemed mods/admins did something similar. Wish I could find that thread, pretty fun.

Hey i would gladly shoot ammo that the millions of tax payers have paid for. Im guessing you would as well.

Those are SAWS (squard automatic weapon) . The weight is not all that bad.I don't like them myself thow. If you shoot one you'll know what I'm talking about. They were going to replace the M60 but the rainge on a 223/ 5.56mm and the 308/ 7.62 the 223 does not hve near the knock down power or the rainge of the 308. Now to shoot the saw you let down the bi pods and push foward as hard as you can and pull the triger. The 60 open the bi pods put your non firing hand on top of the receaver, rest your head on your hand and go to town. you can hit target at 800meters with no problem not with the saw. It jumps to much. 534 Combat Surport MP co Panama 82-86

The thing isnt the recoil so much as the rapid fire. If you've fired a civvie .223 you kind of understand, but Military grade 5.56mm fires at a higher pressure than its civilian counterpart. The SAW's weigh about 15 pounds a piece, with a 200 round drum of linked ammo weighing in at 7.5 pounds a piece.
So you're holding up about 23 pounds in each hand, and dealing with full automatic recoil. Its understandable.
And no, thats Army, not a Marine.

ANY rifle caliber fully automatic weapon (ie M60, M240B, M249 SAW) is better fired from the prone, and is surprisingly accurate when done so. Go ahead and do so otherwise, but don't expect to hit much.

That is fun. I took 3 ammo cans full and linked them together and just held the trigger down on them. CO got a little pissed when we had to send my SAW off to get the barrel removed by the 3rd shop....

Other than that I never had a problem with my saw. The M60 was a good weapons platform but the SAW is much nicer to carry.

The M240 is the new 7.62x51 MG. That there is a blast to shoot.
