Have you ever coveted someone's gun

Heck no! The 9th commandment clearly states:

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors gun.

You can covet your neighbors wife and goods but not his gun.

A buddy of mine has what has to be one of the best Winchester collections in the world. He has run a profitable business for years but lives almost in rags spending all of his money on Winchesters. Noone has ever seen his entire collection becasue he keeps it in multiple places. He is no dummy. He intends to liquidate a lot of it one day and retire in his fifties. Of course he has no wife and kids so he can get away with this. He also owned probably 80% of his collection before about 2005 or so. I woud not at all be surprised if it was worth three millions dollars. I envy him.

Yes, Dirty Harry's gun!

I never have but my best friend did with my Marlin 1894 in .357magnum. A few years ago he retired, moved back to Ogden, Utah and remarried, all in a week.

I gifted him that Marlin as he drove out of town. He even lets me shoot it when I come out to visit.

Those are easy enough to find. I have one in stainless. It's my bear buster for when I go to my farm. I can't carry a long gun and do any work at all so I wear that 629 in a shoulder holster. Feel free to covet it if you wish. ;) Or you can make me an offer I can't refuse.

I coveted Dad's bring back P38 and his 1956 39A. I got them when he passed at 91 but in reality I miss him more than I wanted the guns.

Once or twice ;) My pal Tommy still hasn't sold me his Iver Johnson Supershot Sealed Eight. It's realllly nice.

No, I have not coveted someone's gun. . Have I thought that they had a fantastic gun and I wanted one? Yes.

I have, many times over the years.

I have seen, handled & sometimes fired some amazing collections over the years and I'm pretty-sure that I've wanted all of them. From "futuristic" gyrojets thru Mateba's, rare production guns all the way through WWII 1911's, custom M1911s, English fowling pieces to French & German percussion cap pistols, even a 16th century wheellock pistol... I've coveted all of them. Still do.

I have a friend who didn't know what he had - just an old Colt SAA - NIB from 1921 - in 44 S&W and 44 Russian caliber (he had inherited it). He asked me if I wanted to buy it. When I asked him how much he thought it was worth , he said "6 or 700 bucks". I decided to keep the friend and miss out on the gun, which he ended up selling for almost $20K in an auction a few months later.

Imagine how ticked I was when my friend's Ruger MkII with the 10" heavy barrel was stolen after I had tried to buy it so many times! Boy I was ticked. If he was gonna let it get stolen I would have stole it! ;) I razzed him for months after that but dang if he didn't get the thing back. I didn't have the heart to steal it from him after that. Once is too often to lose a pistol like that. :)
