I have a nice Hawke 3-9 AO scope on my Diana .177 non-magnum springer air rifle. Haven't used it as much as I should have though, grabbing the Benjamin 392 pumper most often. Here's the thing I'm wondering about the scope. Since it's "springer" air rifle rated (springers are bad about trashing some scopes) does anyone here know if it should handle the recoil of my wonderful Ruger 77/357? I currently have a leupold Rifleman 2-7x33 non-AO on it and need more power for some load testing. I don't see mention of Hawke optics very often except on air gun forums. Thank you. Don

Thank you. That's reassuring. I know they have a wonderful written guarantee, and honestly, the optics on my particular scope are extremely bright and clear. It has mil dots and an adjustable objective yet is a relatively compact scope. I can't hunt any longer and my 77/357 is essentially a bench gun, with the scope and a folding bipod. Cheap to shoot with home cast reloads and Trail Boss powder, it really is my favorite rifle of all time. I'll change the scope tonight. And should it fail me, I'll try the Hawke guarantee on for size! Don.

Readyeddy it's not going to work for me. The bolt handle of my 77/357 just barely clears the eyepiece end of the Leupold 2-7 Rifleman mounted on it using the factory rings. I compared the eyepiece of the Hawke to the Leupold and the Hawke is larger diameter. Bolt head would hit the scope. I don't want to buy new rings (too pricey for me) and don't want to trade the factory ones back to Ruger for taller ones. I reckon I'll just stick with the Leupold 2-7 and make do. Thanks again. Don.
