Why just one.......

I couldn't take the pressure so I bought both...

Remington 870, 18in, added a Knoxx Spec Ops recoil reducing stock.

Mossberg 590A1

....what ever you choose.....practice, practice and practice some more with it.

I also have the Knoxx Spec Ops Stock on my 870. What do you think of the stock?

Now there's a fine idea ... ;)

I'd very much like to hear more about those from both of you and others (though I'm OK if we move it to another thread so as not to hijack this one ... )

Spec Ops Stock on 870

It is a perfect fit for me:D

I took a 2 day Defensive Shotgun class in NH.....300 rounds in 2
days...didn't feel a thing!

My only complaint:
I need to find out if the trigger assembly can be removed without taking the stock off. It appears the stock must be removed in order to remove the trigger assembly for cleaning. :(

Okay, okay, so it isn't super uber extra special tacticool scary black with lots of stuff hanging off of it.......but damnit, it works great! I guess I am a softy for classic JMB designs.

:D

P.S.-It is my latest Ithaca 37, I have two others......

P.P.S.-I also have an Ithaca Mag 10 Roadblocker...........for those "special" targets and occasions........

i like em all, i have about 11 or so 12 gauges, love em all. the high points are my 870's, mossberg 590a1, and a really fun saiga 12. but my favorite social shottie is an 1897 18 inch takedown, just incredible. wal mart has 870's on sale right now for just a little over $200.

870, and if that doesn't work one of the other guns pictured certainly will.

Think I like lights on my guns?! ;)

Rob

Ahhh so you like my "Uber tactical" butt cuff.

Its a generic Walmart special that I had a "US Army" name tag sewn on the rear so that it would not slide forward. I paid more to have it sewn, $1, than for the butt cuff or Army tag. :D

Oh, so that's what that is.

Cool idea. I've been wondering about what prevents them from sliding.

i like the mossberg 500 over the rem 870 only because of where the slide latch is. the little button right where my hand is anyway just makes perfect sense to me and i like that. the only real complaint about the mossberg 500 is the rattle you get from the forend. i am attempting to remedy that tho by trying to get the old style mossberg magtube and forend. i have the tube but i cant find the forend. i am trying to ream one out to fit tho. the mag tube had rings welded on the tube to take up much of the space between forend and magtube.. i want to add a oil soaked piece of felt or somthing in that space to keep rattle down to minimum. should be very quiet when im done.

heres some pics of my buddies ithaca 37. he had the cool leather case made by our friend who is a leatherworker. the case has a locking buckle, and has buckling shell holders on the side. also has a carry handle as well as a shoulder strap. neat case huh? the gun is just a old ithaca 37 with a pistol grip. bead was taken off to make getting it out of the case easier.

The 870 is probably more durable but I went with the Mossberg 500 because of the positioning of the safety and the bolt release.

My HD shotgun is a Mossberg 500 8-shot 20" barrel, my hunting shotgun is an 870 with a 28" barrel. I like my Mossberg more but I've always found that 870's swing better for me.

I'd say 870, too. It's what I trust...18" police barrel, M3 light.

And even for HD, I'd say a stock or at least a folding stock. You have a shoulder, use it. You'll be more accurate, and a pistol grip has resulted in more than one set of broken teeth. :D

Hey, where'd you take that class?

Appreciate info on that if you have any...thanks!

A few days ago, just after ordering my 870P (bead sight, solid Speedfeed stock) from a store in ID, I was in my local gun store looking at pistols.

I looked to my left to see a young man purchasing the 870P that had been on that store's shelf since July when I first started looking at them. It had the Speedfeed stock with the spring-loaded, extra shell storage tubes. I didn't like it, and after doing some research on THR and learning that most others didn't either (shells tend to drop out, etc). So, I didn't buy it, and ordered one just like it but with the solid stock. (My gun store couldn't find one from any of their suppliers, so I had to find it myself, on the web.)

So here's this guy buying it. I kept my mouth shut, of course, not saying anything stupid like, "Hey, are you sure you really want that stock?"

After the background check was completed, and the money was exchanged, I saw why he was buying it: the salesperson took off that stock and installed a pistol grip.

As he was doing so, I overhead the young man explaining why he wanted the gun. "There's been a lot of car theft recently in my neighborhood, and vandalism."

So, I'm thinking to myself this is a civilian vigilante case waiting to happen. He's going to fire off a round or two at vandals, get in trouble with the law, AND lose a tooth in the process?

Tsk.

Even though I like all three, I chose the 590 as I really like the control layout much better than the 870 or Nova that I also own.
I do wish I could get my hands on a good Ithaca 37 and try it out...

I've got an 870 and a Win Defender. The Winchester lives under the bed cruiser ready and the 870 lives in the garage.

Well, I'm not much on Mossbergs, but I seem to have about everything else :scrutiny:

So there you go, get one of each :p I like the Remingtons, tho an Ithaca can be had for pretty reasonable too.

L --> R

Saiga 12 converted
Ithaca 37 police special
Remington 11-48 Riot
Reminton 870 Police

Also a Kimber Pro Carry HD and Glock 21, and last but not least, my Anatolian/German Shepherd "Kimber"

I really like the looks of your Saiga. Can you tell us a little more about what you had done and costs?

Is that a 10 shot magazine? Flash supressor, muzzle break??

Thanks,
Rob
