Wow!...... lots of head games so far....Did we get Sadamn?..was that really him on live TV?....nahh!
The propoganda flyers and surrender instuctions mixed with the creepy slow start to this war have got to be messin with the Iraqi's heads.....wait till we start with the BIG stuff.

Do I have a question?.....yep....What do any of you know about the psycological tactics we use on the enemy?.....who writes this stuff.....how effective is it in the long run?.....Anything in particular come to mind as far as succesfull psycological attacks we have put together in other wars?.......for that matter has any of it ever blown up in our faces and made things worse?

Answer that one all you war and history buffs!:D

PsyOps work very well. It's an Army specialty. And you're right, the whole idea is to mess with the enemy's head.

I've tried to use my imagine that a country much more powerefull than us started dropping flyers here in NYC...HOLY S***!......this place would be a mad house......

PsyOps has been an element of war for a LONG time. In World War II you had people like Tokyo Rose broadcasting to Americans in the Pacific, while in America you had special units that would broadcast to the Japanese and Germans.

IIRC the first time that PsyOps were accorded serious attention in the US military was in Vietnam. There were also a lot of scary stories to come out of Vietnam about the PsyOps units and the things they would do.

Since then it's become an integral part of military operations.

You can only be a sovereign nation if you control your borders (land, sea and air). The only way to ultimately have that control is by force of arms.

Iraq has NO chance of stopping any of this any more than a squirrel in the road has of stopping a semi (can you say “thump)

If any nation could overfly NYC unopposed and drop leaflets it's a CLEAR indication that they could drop bombs on the next sortie. Same effect .
