To pay respects to my hero, best friend, teacher, spiritual advisor, knife sharpening partner, gun show pal, and Dad. He passed away last July 23rd, so this first Memorial Day shall be tough. He had more honor in his finger than I'll ever have. I took my son there yesterday to put flags on each grave, as he's a Cub Scout. I'll pick up my Mom with my wife and kids, caravan down to JB with my Sister and her family to visit his gravesight, and remember a hero. I miss him so much.

Thanks for all who served.

A wonderful post. Your Dad would be proud of You. Spent part of yesterday at Veteran's Memorial Park in Tampa. Took my wife and 92 year old Mama. It was special.

The first year or two are tough. Especially for those of us who shared a close bond with our fathers. Time does heal all wounds and they do live on in our hearts forever.

I'm 64 years old, went to Subway today and at the register, out of the blue, the girl asked if I was in the Army. I said I was 45 years ago. Then she gave me a nice discount.

As Memorial Day has passed we'll close wishing all those fallen and left behind peace.
